Learning to Read and Write Chinese: “Add Gas” or “+ Gas” or “加油”

January 18th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

Gas? Passing gas? ewww… My Car needs gas? You’re so close! What happens when you “add gas” to a vehicle? Your vehicle is filled with energy and ready to go further and faster. Right? Below are the two Chinese Characters that translates “Add Gas”.

加, jiā, to add / plus
油, yóu, oil/fuel (you can say it means Gas too, Gas = Fuel)

“Add Gas” is a term/slang I learned, among Chinese friends, to cheer you on and to encourage you to keep it up. Or…just  maybe…your car does need a refill 🙂

“It is easy to be a designer, but not easy to stay as one, and even more difficult to be a successful one.”

Basic Must Have Healthy Habits: Regulate in all you do!

October 30th, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

Focus on the basics and form simple good habits. Simple habits does not mean easy execution. Balance and regulate these habits religiously and you will see great improvements physically and mentally.

  • eat = energize your body, with a healthy nutritious diet along with lots of water
  • poop = detox your body, do #2 at least once a day
  • sleep = rest your body, at least 8 hours a day
  • exercise = move your body, at least 30 minutes a day
  • play = rest your mind, form hobbies you enjoy
  • work =  move your mind, use, build and improve your knowledge

🙂 Like they say “what goes in must come out” and “If you don’t move it you loose it”, that goes the same for your body and brain. As for play and work, I’d like to play all day and not have to work. My work would then be playing which mean my play would actually be work…???  Overexertion or idleness are extremes. Always have the Ying with the Yang for an even balance.

Learning to Read and Write Chinese: 勉强没有幸福

October 20th, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

勉强 miǎn qiǎng, manage (to do something) with difficulty / force somebody to do something
没有 méi yÇ’u, haven’t / hasn’t / doesn’t exist / to not have / to not be
幸福 xìng fú, blessed / happiness / happy

“人各有志, 勉强没有幸福” To me this phrase means, “Each person has their own will/ what they want to do/ lean towards, any persistent and negatively forced efforts on self or others will not conceive happiness”.

Do things that make you HAPPY!

Persistent Prayers

October 18th, 2009 § 0 comments § permalink

“God answers prayers not because we are his friends, God answers prayers because we persist. Wrestle with God until he blesses you. Ask, ask, ask and pray, pray, pray until he gives his blessing!”

~Today’s Pastor

I never knew prayer could be so aggressive. Although God provides all, you still have to wrestle with Him and ask persistently for what you want. You have to really want what you ask for and not just hope you’ll get it somehow. Be determined in your efforts and in all you do. With strength and faith as strong as a wrestler refusing to loose a match, one day, you will get what you want. Do not be timid to ask for what you want.

Fight for your happiness with persistence!
