September 24th, 2014 § 0 comments § permalink

Hi everyone, I finally got my fake bangs to look right. I am really excited to share it with you. If you have a deep desire for bangs like me but…

1) You have wires for hair
2) You don’t want to wait for it to grow back

Then play with this idea, it may turn your broom into a cute little side swept bang. All you need is a comb, hair pins, plastic ties and some water.

Simple trick to track water intake

We all know it’s important to drink 8 cups of water per day. It helps hydrate our body and help carry toxins away from our body. As a forgetful person it’s really hard to keep this habit. I’ve tried many ways to remind myself but it never sticks. Although not beautifully executed I was anxious to my idea a try. I hashed it out in a few minutes.

It’s been working really well and I’ve been drinking 8 cups of water daily for the past week. I didn’t miss a day. This sits  on my desk in front of my computer screen within my field of vision. After I finish one bottle I would move one stick over to the left. This is also serves as a reminder to take a small break away from my work while I refill my water bottle. I guess it doesn’t take fancy gadgets, apps, spreadsheets or notebooks to keep a habit. The important thing is to keep trying until you find a way that works for you. I hope this will inspire playful ideas for you to develop good habits 🙂

Materials:

  • Popsicle sticks
  • Card board box (You could use two paper toilet rolls and cover it with some nice wrapping paper to make it look nicer. I just didn’t bother. I was more excited to see if the idea would work more then the looks of it.)
  • tape
  • pen

Cut and tape away.

Two day hairstyles in one: Twisted braids & Soft wavy curls

July 7th, 2014 § 0 comments § permalink

I have always admired the girls in Korean dramas. They have really diverse, cute and romantic looking hairstyles. In my opinion I look pretty fobbish (fresh of the boat) with the regular braids. So I thought I’d give it a twist instead of the regular braid. To my surprised, twisting a braid turned out a lot easier and more stylish. The added benefit of this hairstyle are fun wavy curls that I’ve always wanted. If you have hair like mine, straight as a stick and have been mistaken for straightening your hair, you’ll know how hard it is to produce lasting curls without heat. You will love how easy and fast these two hairstyles are. Great for lazy days. You almost do nothing for the curls. People will think you spent hours on your hair.

Direction: Day 1 – Twisted braids

  • Dampen hair 80-90%
  • Separate hair in half
  • Separate hair in half again, twist strands two towards the front
  • Twist the two strands to the back and pull tightly
  • Tie and repeat on the other side

Direction: Day 2 – No heat, Soft wavy curls

  • Sleep with braids on
  • Untie hair
  • Separate hair with hand (DO NOT COMB)
  • Optional: Style and spray with hair products if desire

有最壞打算並非不好, 但人生應該充滿希望
Having a plan for the worst is not bad, but life should be full of hope

Sometimes we are so wrapped up in our efforts to prevent the worst things from happening in our lives we tend to picture life in the worst possible way. A plan can help prevent and ease some bad situation but a plan is only a plan.

Your worst scenarios:

  • May be just as bad as we imagined it.
  • May not be as bad as we imagined it.
  • May never happen.

These are only a few possibilities. Anticipate the worst and  hope for the best. Best things or worst things will happen to those who believe. Which would you rather believe and chase after?

This quote is a major reminder for me to focus on the better side of life. I live with a “plan for the worst” in mind but desperately hope for the better. This conflict between lack of faith and wanting to have faith kept me from truly having peace and happiness. Once in a while quotes like this one builds me up and keep me back on track. I am grateful for its existence.
