Gratitude: Happy Mother’s day!

I didn’t really understand most of the Chinese characters in this cartoon when I saw it in the drama. I just knew the people were not happy yet they show a happy face to their loved ones. After translating the dialogue I realized parents are just an older version of us. They are susceptible to sadness, failures, hardship just like us. In a family crisis they have to muster all their courage and sanity to take care of the situation and take care of our feelings and daily needs. This responsibility starts the moment we are born until the end of their life. It’s not something everyone can live by, so thank you parents! Especially single parents, thank you to my dearest mother.

Here’s a quick tutorial for those of you who use your hair bun mesh donut very often like me. The mesh donut will eventually either completely or partially break apart. The mesh material is very sturdy, there’s no need to create waste so don’t throw it out. I’ll show you how simple it is to fix in the video below. Enjoy!

Materials:

  • Needle
  • Needle threader (optional)
  • Matching thread

Free Pattern: DIY Halter top using vintage floral fabric ( Summer top )

Easy sewing project

If you are looking for easy things to sew or things to sew for beginners here’s a easy free sewing pattern I made. You can use a scrap of stretchy fabric or even cut up fabric from an old shirt because it requires so little fabric.

I have been eyeing this pretty piece of vintage scrap fabric in my mom’s stash for a long time. The fabric has been around since the beginning of time for me. There’s not much left of it so I thought it would be great for a summer top. What I ended up with is this halter top. It requires very little fabric and is super easy to sew. It’s super comfy and stretchy, unfortunately I don’t know what type of material it is. You could use any stretchy material and it would work the same.

How to customize free sewing pattern

The image below shows you how to make your measurements and how to draw the fabric pieces to make your custom halter top pattern.

  • Back piece (cut 1) = B (width) x E (height)

  • Add hem according to color chart above.

Help empty the trash of the heart

Wouldn’t life be wonderfully happier if we all gave a helping hand and threw out each other’s trash? Sometime all it takes it a quiet listening ear, a kind word. ^_^

Love every PART of yourself

April 8th, 2014 § 0 comments § permalink

Love every PART of yourself

Others hurt us but we have a choice not to continue hurting ourselves. I’ve always known a long time ago I needed to learn to love myself first before I can love others. This short dialogue between child and adult made me realize how simple it is to love oneself. Personifying our body parts taught this child, as well as the adult (me), to understand the things we do directly damages ourselves. Every part of us deserves to be loved and treated with respect and cared as our closest family and friends.

If you were a body part within yourself, who would you least like to be and most like to be?  What would you have to say about the relationship between the two of you? Would you like yourself?  Are you forced to work over your capacity 24/7 with no rest, day after endless day? How long would you last without striking back or falling ill? If I were my eyes I would want a replacement and quit right now! Learn to look at things from “their” position and what “they” have to endure. When we are overworked or unhappy our bodies becomes unhealthy and fall sick. We directly effected and influenced by ourselves more than anyone else. Love is a two-way street, take care of “them” and “they” will love and protect you a 100 times more. Don’t just “love yourself” but “love every PART of yourself”.
